Like a torrent of tidal waves, the road to Applecross is famed for its swells. At its highest, the Bealach na Ba mountain pass reaches 626m, immediately tumbling down to form a series of hairpin bends and hair-raising turns.
Simply referred to as ‘the street’, the town is full of culinary charm. The Applecross Inn isa must-visit; renowned for its award-winning fresh seafood and highland game meats, as is the Applecross Smokehouse where smoked fish is top of the menu.
Believed to be one of the earliest settlements in Scotland, Applecross retains its solitude across a remote peninsula in Wester Ross; giving the surreal impression of being at the edge of the world.
